Nina Amelung is Research Associate and Doctoral Candidate in the Innovation in Governance Research Group.

She is a social scientist and studied sociology, political science and psychology at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen and the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The subject of her diploma thesis was "Sustainable Development and Quality of Life: The Relevance of Environment for the Subjective Wellbeing".

Nina has worked in the German Parliament and at the German Council for Sustainable Development, where her work focused on policy instruments for sustainable development, e.g. the national strategy for sustainable development, impact assessment and the integration in a federal state system.

In her doctoral studies she is dealing with the influence of standardisation processes (e.g. quality standards) on the emergence and spread of deliberative policy instruments. Her research interests include governance and policy instruments, deliberative democracy and sustainable development.
